Minardi today (Tuesday) announced the appointment of Slovakian test driver
Jirko Malcharek, after a successful test at Vairano last week.
"Minardi is delighted to have signed Jirko to assist with its aerodynamic
testing work," commented team founder Gian Carlo Minardi in a press release.
"He is fully dedicated to the role and impressed the team's engineers
with his technical feedback at the recent test.
"An added bonus is that his height, weight and body proportion are
similar to those of Mark Webber. We look forward to working with Jirko."
Malcharek was introduced to the team by European F3000 Championship
outfit GP Racing, for whom he has also tested.
As official test driver the Bratislava-based racer could have help from
Matteo Bobbi, who tested with the team before the start of the season in
March, working on improving the team's aerodynamic package this year.
