A report on Alex Yoong's official web site, alexyoong.com, has revealed that there is a possibility he may not race in Hungary after he failed to qualify at Hockenheim, for the third race this year.

"Yoong expects that there is a possibility that he might be replaced in Hungary as he has an agreement with (Minardi principal, Paul) Stoddart that he is not to miss qualification in two GPs," read the article.

"The San Marino GP and the German GP misses by Yoong count towards these. The British GP miss was attributed by Stoddart to the lack of power steering which the team took responsibility for."

Yoong later spoke of his disappointment at missing the 107% qualifying cut by just under a tenth of a second. "Personally I must admit that not qualifying at Hockenheim was a big blow for me. We have been on the back foot a bit since Silverstone and I need to change that," he said on his web site.

"Without testing though, Friday practice is a pretty hard time to try and do that on top of everything else. I have not talked to Paul (Stoddart) these last couple of day's but a decision has to be made soon.

"I have worked hard to get here and there has been a lot of sacrifice for little reward, so I'd be lying if I said I would be content not to be racing at Hungary. What ever happens though I know it would be made in the best interest of the team and I will respect that."

However, with two weeks until the Budapest event, no decision has been taken and Yoong and team mate Mark Webber are both relaxing in their native countries. A Minardi spokesperson told formula1.com: "Paul said at the end of the German GP weekend when asked about the situation regarding Alex that it would be ten to twelve days minimum before he got down to thinking about it.

"Because Alex is away in Malaysia at the moment there isn't the opportunity to sit down quietly with him and talk about the matter until he is over for Thunder in the Park next weekend, and maybe at that point they will talk about what the future holds."
