Practice

Position: 17 No. of laps: 29
Time: 1 min 37.835 secs Chassis: PS02/04
“We had a positive day, but the changeable weather conditions meant we didn’t make quite as much progress as we would have liked. This morning, the track was at its best about 15 minutes from the end of the session, but then it deteriorated when the rains came again with about 10 minutes to go. The circuit was a lot quicker in the second session and improving all the time, but then we had a couple of issues that prevented us from getting the best out of the car when the surface was at its driest. We worked through our wet tyre comparison and tried a couple of things in the second session that we thought we might use tomorrow, but they didn’t really work out, so we’ll revert to our plan from the first session. We’re looking forward to Saturday, when hopefully, the weather will be an improvement on today.”

Qualifying

Position: 20 No. of laps: 11
Time: 1 min 22.281 secs Chassis: PS02/04
“For us, this has been a positive day. The guys did a really good job with the car and made absolutely the right decisions with the tyres and set-up. I really enjoyed today’s qualifying session, and that second run in particular I felt was very good. I’m sorry for Alex, though – to have missed out by such a small margin today is tough, but I’m sure he’ll bounce back for the next race.”

Race

“We really don’t know what happened yet. I hit the brakes at the end of Hangar Straight and the car just snapped into a high-speed spin. We had been going really well to that point and I was able to run at a consistent, competitive pace. It’s disappointing, because with the problems caused by the weather today, there might well have been the opportunity for a good finish.”
