“We had a technical problem that cost us running
time in the first session – we only managed four laps – but then we had a
productive second session, when we worked on early-phase traction control as
well as a number of other issues. The guys did a good job and we made steady
progress despite the cold weather and the characteristics of the asphalt
here at Imola, which cause the track to take forever to start drying out. It
was difficult to find any grip as a result, but then the conditions were the
same for everyone. All in all, it wasn’t a bad day.” |

“It was an awesome day and an awesome qualifying
session for us. We had a problem on my race car today - we still don’t know
exactly what happened - and I had to jump in the T-car, which was set up for
Alex. I just gave my last lap absolutely everything to get the time I did. I
was so happy for the guys because they really busted themselves to get the
spare car turned around for me, and then to do those two runs in the end was
great. It was good to do it here at Imola, as I love the circuit.”

“It was generally an enjoyable race. We had some
fun at the beginning with the Jaguars. They looked like they had a lot of
problems with understeer and I was able to get Pedro (de la Rosa). It would
have been nice to get Eddie (Irvine) as well, but I thought I’d wait and see
how the pit stops panned out between us. As it worked out, we stopped three
laps earlier than they did. Overall, though, we learned a lot today,
particularly how to use the tyres. Also, letting traffic through frequently
and getting off line is part of the job where we are, and although it was a
little bit frustrating to have to keep doing that, it was nevertheless
useful experience. It was a good race thanks to a reliable car from the
guys.” |
